[Ag-eq] Donkeys: was "caring for Minnies"

We have peacocks, donkeys, roosters and cattle in our neighborhood.

The first time I heard the peacocks I thought it was a woman calling for help. Now I love the sound and I wonder about getting some peacocks for the farm. I want some ducks but we have to build a shelter first.

I have no desire for a rooster. The closest rooster is a half mile away and that is loud enough. The donkey sounds are delightful but I think I would prefer a female if the males are louder.

We have seven chickens. The new ones are Laverne and Shirley and Lucy and Ethel. The older chickens and the new ones get along but keep separate.

Jewel, have you gotten any more rabbits? I was so sorry to hear about Peter. I have heard that rabbits can die of fright. Consider how often they are afrid it isn't a very good survival characteristic.

I probably shouldn't admit it but my garden is a total disaster this year. The rabbits got my tomatoe and pepper plants and my bean sprouts and the weeds are taking over. I decided the garden is just too big to manage and next time I will have a much smaller garden with quality not quanty. I will put up a rabbit fence and grow the limited things we like best.

It is good to hear from everyone, the list has been so quiet.
