[Ag-eq] Now is the time to plant bulbs

Should anyone wish to know, fall is the time to plant spring bulbs, and also
garlic. Well, I don't know about garlic north of zone 6, but here in Jersey
mine comes up a bit now, hangs out all winter, then has a good start when
spring rolls around.

And spring flowers are just magic. Some of them pop up when there's still a
bit of snow on the ground. Almost all of them require no care, except
dividing every few years. And they multiply and get more beautiful every
year.

My favorites are miniature iris, giant allium, giant crocus, and geranium
daffodil, which has a nice scent.

I bought an autumn crocus this year, crocosmia. It's a funny thing. It
doesn't put up any leaves all summer, so I forgot where it was, until I
found some crocus-flowers the other day. Aha! It's hard to find much
blooming now except chrysanthemum and the last roses, so it was very
welcome.
