Damn it!  Jody has added deer to the list of garden diners, so our electric fence will have to have 
more wires than those 2 very close to the ground that were designed to keep out groundhogs etc.
You will need to have the top wire 5 feet or more from the ground.
Have you ever wondered what useful purpose you can put all those unwanted cds to.
Hang them along that top wire that can be electrified if you want.  The cds will wave about in the 
wind as well as the silver surface reflecting the sun.  These two things will confuse the deer and 
deter them from attempting to jump it as they will be unable to judge its height.

Hi Tracy,

Oh I love New Hampshire! I feel like I am home again! I live about 8 miles from town and my 
daughters house. She has a Cape Cod style house and the upstairs  has been converted into an 
apartment. When I lived here in the past I live right downtown and was able to walk to everything! 
There is also a little bus call the city express the girl goes all over town too.  The town was 
actually rated number one in walkable communities.

Tracy and her husband own a store in town and they work there seven days a week! Yes it is a lot of 
work for them but it gives me the opportunity to go to town whenever I want to. Usually about twice 
a week I will go to town with her walk around town and then spend the rest of the day in the store 
knitting.

New Hampshire is terrible when it comes to transportation. If I wanted to go to Concord for example 
I would have to take a bus to Springfield Massachusetts and then another bus back up to Concord 
total time about four hours.

The area where I live it is agricultural and there is a horse two doors down from our house. I get 
all of the sounds and smells of the horse without having to do any of the work! I love it! It is not 
unusual to have someone ride by on a horse when I am out walking. Unfortunately I am too far from 
town to walk to town and there is no transportation except with my daughter.


I am sure there are probably many towns in New Hampshire with a tiny downtown area that you could 
have a small farm with in walking distance. Not sure where that would be though.  If you live in the 
seacoast area on the other side of the state I think there is transportation down to Boston etc.

I do miss Florida in the winter time but the rest of the year they can keep it. It's just too hot 
for me. Of course come January and February you'll have to ask me about the cold here. Ha ha h

I didn't have a garden this year but from what I've heard that it's probably a good thing. We are in 
a major drought here and everyone that has a garden has either lost it to the drought or to the deer 
and rabbits which are very plentiful this summer
