[Ag-eq] Figs

I think the variety I had first took a couple years to get going. Then we
had a really cold winter, and that was it for that little tree.
The one I have now is called Chicago Hardy, and is supposed to fruit even if
it dies back to the roots, though it fruits better when it doesn't die back.

Tracy, they did leaf out and have grown a little taller. They are only a
couple of years old and still quite small. I suspect I might live a little
too far north for this variety. I got the starts from my Brother, who lives
about 4 hours south of me. His fig bush is huge now and they get hundreds
of figs each year. He can't remember the name of the bush. I have them
planted on the south side of the house and will mulch them good before
winter.

Nella, how did your fig sticks do? Did they leaf out and leap up?

Mine didn't die back much this winter, so it did really well this summer.
I've gotten several delicious figs from it. The beasties haven't even
bothered them much.
