Does anyone know how to tell when an eggplant is ripe? It's so seldom I get one to actually make it that far, I'm not sure when to pick it. Do they soften up, like tomatoes do? Do the flower remnants on the top loosen up? Should I get out the color detector and try to tell if it's purple? Not that I know what color it is when it's not ripe. Tracy
