Or, on the other hand, on your, carefully, monitored strolls around the
neighbourhood, you could 
keep  your eyes open for any new full-grown marrigolds that have,
miraculously appeared in , 
previously, barren gardens!!!

This weekend, I planted out some marigold seedlings I'd raised.  They were
just about to flower.  I checked them last night, and some critter had
disappeared them.  Critters aren't supposed to like marigolds, but I guess
no one told the critters around here.  I raise up a beautiful flower, and it
gets clobbered by some varmint!  I know, I'm always complaining about the
same thing, but it is annoying.
