Wendy,
Art Education for the Blind published with American Printing House for the Blind six volumes of a college level art history course.
We have an archive of a huge number of images. Please put together the list of what you need and we can see what we've got. There is verbal description and history for the courses that accompanies these materials. Email your list to: editor-at-large at artbeyondsight.org.
I hope one day we can find funding to put all this material on line.
How near are you to Seattle? SAM is developing quite a great program.
Best wishes for your students success!

Subject: [Art_beyond_sight_learning_tools] `~Audio Description of famous works of art
I produce accessible materials for students with disabilities, including a
number of blind students. One of the students is taking a humanities course
that covers a number of famous works of art ( Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, La
Pietra by Michelangelo and so on.) I have been asked to produce image
descriptions to help him understand the subtleties of each piece. While I am
happy to do this, I am wondering if there are existing compillations of image
descriptions of this sort, especially for well known works of art. I am certain
there are experts who are able to produce far more thorough and eloquent
descriptions than I can!
Is anyone aware of an archive of this kind?
Thanks for your help,
Wendy Holden
