On December 24, 2025, Elon Musk and Tesla’s AI Director, Ashok Elluswamy,
shared footage and details of their recent unsupervised rides around
Austin, Texas.
While Elon Musk described his ride in text, the primary video of the system
operating with both front seats empty was posted by Ashok Elluswamy. You
can view the direct link to that footage below:

ontext of the Video (Described by Google Gemini):
The Ride: The video is roughly 2 minutes long and shows a Tesla Model Y
navigating complex Austin city traffic, including making right turns at
intersections and yielding to pedestrians.
The Difference: Unlike previous "Full Self-Driving" videos, this
specifically shows the driver's seat is completely empty. Ashok is filming
from the back seat, and there is no safety monitor present in the vehicle.
Elon's Experience: Musk posted that he took a similar ride on Sunday,
December 21, where the car drove him "all around Austin" in the passenger
seat with no safety monitor, describing the performance as "perfect
driving."
Why this matters right now
This surge in footage (released just this week) coincides with the launch
of the tesla.com/robotaxi website. It is intended to prove that Tesla's
"Unsupervised FSD" software is ready for public deployment in Austin,
moving away from the "supervised" model where a human had to remain behind
the wheel.
