Hi Everyone,
I heard recently that Tesla introduced new cleaning fees for Robo Taxi
users so I did some research using Gemini and below is the answer I got
with direct links.
Tesla has recently introduced a tiered cleaning fee structure for its
Robotaxi service to ensure vehicle hygiene and efficiency. These fees are
typically triggered when a rider leaves a mess that requires professional
cleaning before the next passenger can be picked up.
Tesla Robotaxi Cleaning Fee Breakdown
$50 Fee: Applied for moderate messes, such as food spills, crumbs, or light
dirt.
$150 Fee: Reserved for severe incidents, including biowaste (vomit),
evidence of smoking inside the vehicle, or extensive trash.
The policy was first spotted in the Tesla app code and has since been
implemented as the service expands. Riders receive a notification via the
app if a fee has been added to their final trip cost.

Context: The "Cleaning Bot"
To manage these cleanliness standards, Tesla also recently showcased an
autonomous "Cleaning Bot" (sometimes referred to as the robotic vacuum
arm). This system is designed to automatically vacuum floors, wipe down
touchscreens, and remove forgotten objects between rides at dedicated
maintenance hubs to help avoid these fees for the next passenger.
