[Blind-Gov] Telework and readers

Hi,

I use Teams in the same way as Brian. The session can be started by me or
the reader. I usually have the reader request control and I Allow it. From
that point on, the reader can read to me from the document on my computer,
as well as fix up any visual formatting.

Some things to be aware of. Due to security limitations at my agency, I can
share my screen with someone who is not using Teams on our network, but I
cannot allow them to control my computer. Also, sometimes the Teams session
gets sluggish and it is not possible for the reader to make the edits in my
file. In these situations, I have to e-mail the file to the reader. I want
to learn how to use the file management options in Teams. This would allow
me to put a file in Teams, the reader can then make the formatting fixes on
their computer, then I can access the final document from Teams.

Zoom is not approved at my agency.

HTH,
Annette

Hello,

When you use teams to share your screen, it has to be on the same computer
you need assistance in reading.
You call the person assisting in teams then share your screen (you can
include audio if you like).
The person reads the screen you cannot read.
You will probably also need to allow the other person to take control of
your system/mouse.

Good afternoon,
Does anyone have experience teleworking with a reader on a separate
computer? During the last couple of years I have only teleworked a couple
times, but it has been without a reader. I have just gotten approved for a
separate computer for the reader. The approval is to work through Microsoft
teams. I was sending this message to see if anybody had any tips and tricks
for doing this.
Thank you,
Paul.
