Oy, adding Eve Hill. They can’t get it more wrong if they tried.

Subject: [Blind-Gov] Uber for Government

Hello All,

Does anyone have experience with Uber for Government. This month my agency rolled out the service. We can enroll in it if we are an approved traveler. You have to have a personal Uber account on your phone, and then the government account gets added as a business account.

The program offers a 24/7 800 number that you can call if you run into a problem while traveling. I asked if the representatives on the phone were trained to be able to assist riders with service dogs to resolve any issues because of their service dog. The Uber representative conducting our training session never answered that question, but went on to tell us that service dogs can only use Uber Pet or the Wheelchair program. She stated that this is because drivers might be allergic to dogs. Although I knew she was wrong on so many points, I did not correct her because the only way we had to communicate with her was through the Chat. I’m gathering information to address this issue.

I’ve found the Uber Service Dog policy from April 2022. Does anyone know if the policy referenced during the National Convention earlier this month was referring to this one, or a newer one?

Does anyone know where to find the 800 number referenced by the Uber representative during the same presentation? She said it is in the app, but I cannot find it.

Does anyone have any experience using the Uber for government account in the Uber app?

Thanks for any information you can share.

Annette
