Hi Cartik,
I don't know about MIT specifically, but there are many computer
engineers who are blind.
Cary Supalo is a blind chemist and there are blind physicists, so I am
sure that they have ways of overcoming the sciences.
I think that Cary is on the nfb.org web site.
There are also Science kits that you can get that will address the
blind person's issues such as graph paper and raised line supplies and
probes&measuring tools with audible alarms.
There is a Scientific calculator that is accessible for the blind, also.
But, maybe someone else can speak to these issues better.
