hi zully,
thanks for your participation. we would love to work with your organization
in any way we can and also if we can go to provide training, i would be glad
to do so. but for going to provide training, since most of us are
internationals and i am not sure how the visa issue will work. but it is a
great idea to go and provide training to people in different countries.
hina.

Greetings to everyone,
I am happy to see discussion taking place in how best to work with CCI. I
suggest first to visit www.CausesforChange.org to get an understanding of
its mission, and past accomplishments.
One thing that it is important to note is that we are a grassroots
organization, 100 percent volunteer. We have to raise funds for every
activity or project that we undertake and we are always out there asking for
in-kind contributions. We are not a direct service provider.
Should Blind International Network choose to create or undertake a project
under the CCI umbrella that is one option, another option is to join CCI on
a travel mission, provide training and help obtain equipment to meet the
request of a particular ask. We raise funds thru arious small activities and
individuals. Zully

Hi Kate and anmol and Hina,

1. Thanks Anmol. I am glad that you put that addition on the list!
Sorry I forgot it.
2. Kate, I'd love to learn more about grant writing, so would enjoy
working with you on this.
3. When thinking about Julie's organization (apd) "Anmol" since you
mentioned it:
Please clarify:
are you seeing it more as a mentor organization? One which helps us
learn to provide similar services to blind people in other parts of
the world. They can impart their experience, etc. We can write a grant
and part of it can help the blind people in Central/south America; so
in essence, we will help them assist the blind people that they serve.
Yet, part of the grant can simultaneously go to put such efforts in
countries that have no such organization?

or
Are you suggesting that we assist the "blind" part of Julie's
:Disabled" clientele and hone in on what their needs are and write a
grant to specifically assist their "blind" clients and in that way
assist APD without actually mirroring their services or merging into
their organization.
or
Are you suggesting that for the time being, we murge with APD until we
get a better understanding of the workings of such a project. Then, we
can branch out and do our own projects??
I am just asking for clarification.

And, what specific downfalls would we entale from either possible
suggestion?
I mean,
1. since this is our first implementation of such a project; would it
be beneficial for APD to "advise," us on all the innerworkings? I am
sure that they have some experience that would be most helpful and
prevent us from the pitfalls of failure. Like any and all
organizations, we have to be careful about submerging into the
dominant and more successful organization. Yet, we do want to succeed.
We also have to make sure that we are not duplicating the same type of
program with the same population.

2. If we do write a grant to assist another organization; will we be
less likely to get that grant because the project is theirs and as
such, it would be more beneficial for them to write their own grant.
3. If we write a grant to include APD's blind population in our grant,
yet APD's blind population is not the only recipient of our aid, then,
we will have to be very specific as how and to whom the money will be
spent.

These are just some things to think about.
Jan
