[Blind-rollers] is this discrimination?

Unified advocacy has won many battles. On many issues both consumer groups
work hard and pull moneys where we alone could not.
Here in WA when they wanted to close the Library for the blind it was the
NFB and ACB who pulled together lobbying our members of the House and
Senate, and held a rally on the steps of the Capitol. I doubt alone I
couldn't have received such a victory. Trust me I am a very good advocate.
How have they hurt us. They are aloud to have differences. Heck you and I
have differences. That does not make you good and me bad. We just talk
things over and learn from one another, smile.

first off I don't think in the NFB box because I'm not a member of
either consumer group because I believe they are more hurtful to us
than helpful to us.

Because if you tell people ahead of time the scooter store just may

that giving her a touched screen control for her power chair is out of
the
question. I have gone to museums, Rock and Role Hall of Fame and many
many
other places calling head to get a guide that describes as much or as
little as I want. My controlling what I want described gives me
independence. I had a business meeting at a restaurant. I called
ahead as
they were not accessible. Then they started describing how to come in
another way. I said I was blind. They said, no problem I will meet
you.
There was no problem no embarrassment. My dignity was of a first class
citizen all by calling ahead.
Now think out of the NFB box to realize it is in many cases to our
advantages to call ahead.

why did you tell them you were blind?
What information would they need or gain by knowing you were blind.
I believe many blind people shoot themselves in the foot because they
almost ware their blindness as a badge and they announce it in the
most unappropriate situations.

Hi All. I talked to a friend with a power chair. She said she got her
chair from the scooter store. She suggested I call them because they
did all of the work.
I called them and things took forever and they never called me back.
They have been wasting my time for a few weeks now. Today my husband
called them to find out why we still have not heard from them. Ready?
They said they could not give me or sell me a chair because I am blind.
Blind people can't tell where they are going and they could r un into
doors, walls or people.
I explained that we sort of use a cane to ensure that we don't run into
those things and several blind people user power chairs and there are
even schools that train guide dogs with power chairs.
They told me they weren't saying I couldn't get a chair, just not with
them. It was a moral decision and its their choice. They didn't even
find out which chair would be right for me, me talk to a mobility
specialist, or anything. They just heard blind and turned it down.
Should I contact and ADA lawyer and pursue this?
