Holly,
While I was at the Carroll Center, I experimented with this very thing. To
me, the longer the cane, the more space you can cover. When I was outside, I
used the longer cane, which was about fifty-six inches, and I used the
shorter cane inside. Both my canes had a roller ball on them to make it
easier to move the cane across surfaces.

I use '58 though somewhere between 60 and 65 is best. I find carbon
fiber canes best for my hand strength (I have CP) but switched to
aluminum because they're a little more durable.
