Hi, all,
I had some good luck earlier this morning when Fire Station4 came to pick up 
a neighbor/friend of mine who wound up being ill for the past few days.
I had to go downstairs to meet another friend as I was purchasing some food 
from her and overheard the fire department and paramedics outside my 
friend's apartment.
I went downstairs in my power chair and began to go out of the apartment 
complex.
As I was making my way down the ramp, the paramedics ended up being behind 
me.
I sped up my chair to quickly get out of the way, but didn't allow myself 
enough time to manoover my chair to the right, so crash, boom, bang my foot 
rest hit the side of the building.
The paramedics did appologize to me and were also able to help assist me 
moving away from the ramp.
Of course, I had to turn my chair around as the ambulance had their red and 
blues going.
Here comes the good part...
I spoke with one of the firemen who also happened to be the fire chief of 
Fire Station4, informing him about the problems I've been encountering with 
Colorado Regional HUD's office in regards of my power chair.
His answer was a good one where he said because my power chair is an 
extention of me, I have every right to keep it where it can be safely placed 
in my apartment complex.
I asked the fireman how wide the back of my chair is, especially since it 
has a cross bar in the back.
He said it is twelve inches and that having it lined up along the wall 
outside of my living room and close to the bathroom isn't a problem: as long 
as I know and remember I have it sitting there and that trying to have it in 
the bedroom or the living room isn't a good idea more because the doorways 
of each room are very narrow.
I asked the fire fighter that if I have anymore problems with CORHUD giving 
me trouble if it wasn't an issue for me to call them.
He said that wouldn't be a problem and if need be, they could get involved 
and let CORHUD have it.
My husband Dale said more likely too, the fire department would come and put 
something on my door that states my power chair is fine being parked along 
the wall outside the living room doorway.
Since I've lived in my apartment complex for over six years, Fire Station4 
has always been very supportive upon standing up for me or others in the 
building.
