I have a wheelchair with the natural fit handrims. I still have to steer the
wheels. My thumb sits in a spot so it doesn't get caught between the rim and
the wheel. How can i use my cane with this?

Subject: [Blind-Rollers] how to use a walker and a long white cane
The lady, I gather uses a four wheel walker with her white cane in the
video. Another idea is to use a one armed walker called a Heni-walker and a
long white cane. The sound is awful in this video.
Copied from another list:
There are many people who do use white canes with a walker, rollator, or
wheelchair, or who come to use a walker as a cane. It takes some patience
and practice, but is doable. I am putting a link below with a video that
shows some one doing this. Also, this sounds like more of an issue with the
attitudes of the assisted living staff than anything else. Surely with some
verbalizing and caution someone could walk without being a danger to others.
This sounds more like a perceived danger that the staff CNIB wrap their head
around.
