[blindkid] Putting pressure on the school district

As expected, the caseworker had no new developments and tried to not discuss
the situation, saying it's in the hands of the sp-ed director and
superintendent. We ran through the normal academic portion of the IEP
review and I didn't let her dismiss the topic entirely. I feel I got a few
useful statements/admissions out of her. I also got a few useful statements
from the teachers confirming how much work print media is even when it's
enlarged.

We did not sign the IEP and I do know I have 15 days to submit written
objections.

Caseworker did try to get me to write/sign a statement on the spot that I
*did* approve of the pre-braille exposure 1x45. She said in my letter to
the superintendent I said I didn't approve of the instruction so by law they
are required to stop instruction if I don't give them written permission to
continue it. Now, my letter specifically said I did not object
to braille instruction, just that I objected to the program change being
made without an IEP meeting and without proper written notice being provided
and to the inapporpriate amount of time scheduled. She reiterated they'd
have to stop instruction unless I gave her something in writing saying I
consent.
Nice try.
I said I was not going to be pressured into signing anything at this time
and I would discuss it with the superintendent tomorrow.

So we'll see what tomorrow brings!

Holly
