They are in Jacksonville, but still pretty far from us - about an hour and
a half. We are on one end, and they are on the other.
Will send contact info their way and cash prize is great - I can talk
it up with Eric and his friends. Hopefully, that will get them to help sell
tickets.

That's too bad you are not going to make it. I thought for sure you had
said something about coming, but that may have been a while ago. I was
hoping you would get a chance to meet my son Jon. He is coming this year
and hasn't been to a convention since his early teens. He has lost more
of his usable vision this year and is really looking forward to learning
more about NFB and what is has to offer him. Plus, now that Eric is older,
that seven year age gap won't seem so big.

Yeah, I understand the withdrawals. But it's nice to take a break too.
When we moved here, I decided I would take a break from all blind
groups for a couple of years. Of course, that only lasted for a little
over a year.

Sea World was fabulous! The educators really took their time with our
kids. They explained things in detail and were very patient. They went
behind the scenes with the penguins and actually got to pet them. They
touched and learned about alligators, sharks, lizards, skulls, bones and
polar bear fur. The program lasted just about two hours and then most
families spent additional time in the park. It would be a really good
program to do at national convention next year. Let me know if you guys
are interested and I can send you the info.

Take care -

Lenora

Glad to hear about the new family attending National! What a great experience
or them!
re they from up your way? Please feel free to give them our contact info (email
nd/or phone). I'm sure Winona would be happy to talk to the teen, compare
tories, etc. I'd be happy to talk with them, too, of course.
I believe the student prize for selling most tickets is $25, but I'm not sure. I
now it is cash! You could contact RoseMarie, or ask at convention.
Unfortunately, we won't make convention this year due to work and family
ituations. Very strange to miss both State and National. I'm having
ithdrawals! I hadn't missed either in 7 or 8 years.
Sounds like the trip to Sea World after State was great!

o you know what the prize is for selling the most tickets? Is Winona able
o come with you this year? There's a new family from FL going for the first
ime and they have a little girl that's 13. They received a national scholarship
nd are VERY excited to go to Dallas. They've been attending our Saturday
vents since September and were at state convention as well.
See you soon!
