Wiki sticks are useful too. They are like pipe cleaners but are sticky so they can be shaped to outline a picture so you can color in it.
A screen board also works for coloring. That is simply a board with window screen attached. You place the paper on it and when you color you can feel where you have colored.
You can combine these to let the person know the outline and also that they have colored.

Subject: [blindkid] What should my legally blind fine motor impaired child be doing when
the rest of the class is tracing their names? The teacher wrote each child's
ame with a highlighter marker. The kids traced their names three times and on
he last line wrote their names.
don't think Jack could see the highlighter on the page. Jack does not trace
hings yet. Can someone break this task down for me so I can understand what
kill Jack should be working on to get him to eventually tracing--not a
ighlighter certainly but maybe tracing bold print? Anyway, I'd love to hear the
reakdown of this skill if somewhere here on the list knows it.
or instance, I'm thinking that perhaps Jack should be coloring particularly
ocusing on actually looking at the page while coloring rather than just
eaching out and marking. OR maybe Jack should be learning to follow tactile
ues for staying in the lines if looking at the page really seems to bother him
and it does)?
Input please...
