Makes everything crystal clear, just like the strips you add to the books.

Hello Listers,

Just to clarify: Richard, you were right about the two categories of our
books
that have pictures (look for "Print-Braille-and-Picture Books in
Uncontracted
Braille" or "Print-Braille-and-Picture Books in Contracted Braille" as you
prefer), but we do not cut off the bindings and add braille insert pages
(maybe
you are thinking of National Braille Press?) Seedlings' books in these two
categories are the regular print books with the braille added on clear
strips
that have adhesive backing. We cut the braille strips and stick each piece
by
hand to the print page.

I hope that helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.

On seedlings, look for "Print-Braille-and-Picture Books in Uncontracted
Braille"
or "Print-Braille-and-Picture Books in Contracted Braille" as you prefer.

Below are direct links which go to those same books (per their site):

Uncontracted:
http://www.seedlings.org/browse.php?cat=11

Contracted:
http://www.seedlings.org/browse.php?cat=6

Those are the top two links from their catalog page which is here:
http://www.seedlings.org/order.php

If memory serves (and from what little is shown in the pictures on the site)

these books are generally the print editions of the books with bindings cut
off,
braille sheets inserted in heavy semi-clear plastic and then they are
rebound.
With the braille pages down over printed ones, a sighted reader can
generally
see the pictures pretty well as the braille is read or to read just the
print,
you skip the braille insert pages.

I have also seen standard books with clear braille stuck over the print
pages as
needed. This is usually completely clear except from slight distortion under
the
braille which is usually not placed right over pictures anyway. I believe
the
term "twin vision" is often used for either of the above styles of books, I
hope
that helps a little.
