Dear Susan,

You ask some very good questions about cane use for children. I cannot
answer all of them, but here is a bit.

Why is the NFB cane longer? The suggested cane length is about nose
height, and the rationale is that it gives more time to react to
whatever the cane contacts. The NFB cane and tip are lighter weight in
order to reduce fatigue in carrying and using it.

Is your son already walking? Our daughter, adopted at age 4, started
out with a toy doll stroller, and then went to the cane.
