Thats because Josey IS amazing but that's because she is an amazing role
model. (he he My daughter know Josey and she means a huge deal to her)
Most people mean well. I also think since so many people aren't use to see
a blind person much less a blind child they don't know how to react. I know
I have had to work on this myself. Its amazing what training and expose can
do for anyone.
I have struggled with this with family more then strangers. I don't think
my family understand the orientation and mobility and its tools. The family
have done a poor time encouraging my daughter to use her cane. I make her
use it even when sometimes she maybe not 'need' it. She need the practice.
This has been a huge issue for us. They see her moving about not using her
cane and say "see she doesn't need it" I see it as a missed chance for
practice.
