Here is the NFB # on blindness.

So school age children 93,000 blind.

Deaf Children are approximately 1/1000 so about 300,000 in the US.

So for children the 3/1 ratio is about right.

Overall in the population it about evens out for people over 65 unless you also count those with significant hearing loss but not functionally deaf.

I have heard that deaf children outnumber blind children by as much as three to one, but I don't recall where I've actually seen that figure. The National Center on Low Incidence Disabilities, based in Colorado, may have the stats you're looking for. Please share whatever you find!
