Amen Debbie and others who resonant these ideas...yes, this is a fine line.
I always tell my students that when they ask for those exceptions to the
rule...they are asking to be thought of as weak or pitied--even worse and
when the big opportunity comes along...they will not be asked to do it
because they have gotten out of so many things before. No one has any idea
of what they are truly capable of.
Be very careful with asking for those exceptions to the general rule---if
you bypass people in line, get out of homework, have less work, have that
get of free jail card because of blindness, etc....do you think others will
be a bit angry with you...pity you? Would kids or others want you to join
with them socially?
What do you want to exemplify in life? How do you want others to perceive
you? Questions we all must ask ourselves whether sighted or blind.
