I also always keep in mind that when the ADA was being debated, Dr.
Kenneth Jernigan, who was the NFB national president at the time,
said our organization would not sign on to the bill unless the
legislators put in a section that ensured the right of disabled
people to TURN DOWN unwanted accommodations. (They did.)
Penny, you're right--we must question every accommodation. My
questions are usually: What is in the mind of the person offering the
accommodation? Does accepting it make Serena look less able in this
person's mind? Less like a peer, an equal, someone to HIRE?
