     A big reason why I chose the BrailleSense U2 is that it has more
up-to-date hardware.

You probably could get as many opinions as people who respond.  However, one
consideration would be whether changing to a completely different company
and learning how it performs functions is worth the trouble.  Unless there
is something obvious that the Apex does that she needs to do, I would stick
with the brand with which she is already familiar and go with the U2.  The
Apex is nice, but I don't know of anything it does that one could say is
clearly better than the BrailleSense U2 that would make learning some new
commands worth it, but perhaps we can get others to chime in on this.
