I have been asked to share the following:

Dear Carlton,

I reached out to you a few weeks ago about a little Chinese girl named Thea
that I was advocating for to be adopted. Unfortunately we lost her file
and so we are no longer advocating for her. However, we do have a little
boy named *Finneus *who has a fairly minor vision impairment, that needs to
be matched with a family for adoption by no later than *Sept. 14th.* *His
vision impairment is correctable* (he basically has eyelids that droop down
and he'll need to have surgery after the age of 3 to lift them up). We
really want to find Finneus his Forever Family!

We also have two little girls who are blind or have vision impairments, and
a little boy that has a vision impairment, that we are currently advocating
for and we have their files for the next 6 to 8 weeks. (I will list their
profiles below).

So if you would please reach out to your community and let them know that
these little boys and girls need to be adopted, that would be great!
Again, it is very difficult to get children who are blind or have vision
impairments adopted from China, because most people don't understand how to
help a child who is blind. But parents who either are blind or who have
blind or visually impaired children will be much more able to help a blind
or visually impaired child from China adjust to life in America.

*One thing to note:* Unfortunately two parents who are blind cannot adopt a
child from China. If one parent is blind and one sighted, that is fine.
This is China's policy, not our agency's. We had a few families with two
blind parents reach out to us about Thea, but unfortunately China would not
allow them to adopt. This might be something to let your community know.
Families can look at all the *eligibility requirements* for adopting from
China here: *http://www.gwca.org/china-adoption/eligibility/*
<http://www.gwca.org/china-adoption/eligibility/>

If you could please advocate in your community for these blind and visually
impaired children, that would be great! Feel free to give out my contact
info: heidi at gwca.org #512.323.9595 ext. 3033. Thank you so much!

*** Need to match Finneus with a family by Monday, Sept. 14th ***

*Hi there! My name is Finneus and I am 1 and a half years old. I have
something called microblepharism, which is just a big word meaning that my
eyelids are shorter than some of my friends. Right now I just receive
eyedrops and I tilt my head back a little bit to see better. Someday I
might need a surgery to pull my eyelids up a little so I can see better. I
am a little delayed on my physical growth, but my intelligence development
is normal. I babbling and I have lots to say. I like to play with friends
and cuddle with my caretakers. There is even more information about me in
my full file, so you can contact my friends at Great Wall if you would like
to learn more about adopting me! I hope my friends at Great Wall help me
find my Forever Family soon!** Check out my NEW video

*** Children We Need to Match with Families within the next 6 - 8 weeks ***

*Hi there! My name is Annabelle and I am 1 and a half years old. My
doctor's say that I am blind, but I don't let that keep me down! My
caretakers say that I am clever and cute and that my intelligence and
physical development are normal. I like to play with toys and dance when I
listen to music. I like to be cuddled by my caretakers and I am a smiley
little girl. You can contact my friends at Great Wall if you would like to
learn more about adopting me! I hope my friends at Great Wall find my
Forever Family soon!*

*Hi there! My name is Chelsea and I am 5 years old. My eyes developed
differently than some of my friends but I don't let this keep me down! I
love playing with toys that make noise and I am very fond of singing; my
caretakers say that compared to the other kiddos, I do a really great job
at remembering all of the lyrics! I am described as being introverted but
am pretty chatty if I am comfortable with you. I can go up the stairs on my
own against the railing but I sometimes need some assistance with
direction. My friends at Great Wall are working hard to learn more about
me!*

*Hi! My name is Caleb and I am 4 years old. My eyes are a little different
than some of my friends and my language development is delayed but I'm
still a happy little kiddo! I enjoy listening to music and I have learned
to use my hearing very well. I am described as being introverted and having
a gentle personality. My file is very outdated so my friends at Great Wall
are working hard to learn more about me!*

Best,
