[blindlaw] Adobe Acrobat

it's just the letter w. Like how you use t to find tables or b to find
buttons on a webpage. jaws renders adobe documents in a similar way that it
deals with webpages, which is why jaws uses the virtual pc cursor in adobe.
You just need to hit control insert w to generate a list of words in the
documents, then scrol up and down the list until you find the word you want,
or you can also search this list by first letter or first few letters. Then,
once you've hit enter, hit w over and over again, and it will do the same
thing as if you had used control f, and then used f3 to jump to the next
instance of the word you are searching for.

If this feature is new to you, I'd be happy to help you out over skype if
you'd like.

Hi there. I have the same problem with jaws and PDFs. To get around it, I
hit control insert w to create a word list for the file, then I find a
relevant word in the list that will be a part of or near the text I'm
searching for, then, I use the w quick nav key to jump around the document
to the various instances of that word. it's not as elegant as a control f
find, but it accomplishes something very similar.

Let me know if that works out for you.

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro X and I am trying to search code books that are in
pdf format and when I hit control find to search the text for what I need,
all that happens is that it highlights the words, but does not read them to
me or communicate where they are or anything which makes the book rather
useless. I have Jaws 13. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have tried to convert to word to no avail, these books are just too large
for Word to handle. I have Word 2007 and Windows XP.

Thanks for any help!!!

Shannon
