Other than the anecdote I related earlier, I know of no instance until this one where such a sign was put up without the consent and cooperation of the person for whom the sign was intended, except in the case of severely disabled children or if a legal guardian had the sign put up.  I was not aware that it was legal for a town to decide that such a sign was appropriate.
