Position Profile: Practicing fairness, equality and trust is the cornerstone of any successful human resources organization. The Office of Human Resources & Safety (OHR&S) is looking for a professional and seasoned individual to serve as the agency’s Internal Equal Employment Opportunity Manager. This position is responsible for the oversight and implementation of the department’s Internal Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) programs encompassing: employee relations investigations (Title VII), diversity affairs, affirmative action and reasonable accommodation. Additionally, this position will also manage the external ADA Compliance program for the Ferries Division.

The Challenge: This position will require someone who has the ability to do a “balancing act”. You will need to be a person who can prioritize daily tasks, assignments and projects, as well as having the flexibility to provide guidance and advice to others on cases and investigations as the need arises. You will be serving as the statewide investigator for all workplace employment investigations and overseeing related activities to ensure compliance with Federal and State employment law and WSDOT policy. More than just funding, this individual will be a key player in ensuring a respectful and diverse workforce by leading and developing diversity programs with statewide impact on our seven thousand employees. We are not looking for someone who is merely interested in diversity and legal compliance. Our successful candidate will understand conflict resolution and negotiation philosophy. They will also have expert knowledge in State and Federal civil rights laws, strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with regional, state and federal entities. A demonstrated experience in making decisions, solving problems, analyzing information, and evaluating results to solve complex problems is paramount as well as good judgment and having the ability to assess the value and importance of things and people.
