Jennifer:

Optical character recognition software is not yet advanced enough to interpret handwriting. The best accommodations are to ask attorneys to email you instead of leaving handwritten notes or to devise a system through which they can dictate notes to you with a voice recorder. They could also leave you voicemails at times when they are unable to send you an email for whatever reason.

Subject: [blindlaw] question about handwritten notes

Hello all,

I'm considering a career as a Paralegal in Texas (Houston area). How would a Paralegal who is blind obtain information from an attorney's handwritten note in a employer/employee situation? What are some possible accomadations?

Respectfully,
