[blindlaw] Information

Dear Elizabeth:
I hope that you are well.
I have been following this great discussion and it has been extremely informative. It will help me tremendously once I learn how to apply the information.
How did you learn how to use the equipment? Did you have to experiment until you figured it out? Is there a class that the Apple Stores offer?
I have an iPad Pro and have stopped using it because I have a Bluetooth keyboard that I use with my iPhone.
I can't keep my place of where I am typing so I feel like I make a lot of time consuming errors. I was totally blind and some of my sight has come back. I still cannot see well and am classified as legally blind and low vision. I have attempted to learn Braille for the past year and I am slow as molasses on a cold winter morning. How do you manage to keep your productivity up? I need any suggestions that you have. Help!
Sincerely,
Anita Keith-Foust

I can also send them to Dropbox and retrieve them from there to insert into my emails as attachments from anywhere that I can access Dropbox from the email address for that account. The "hand off" utility in Apple's operating systems should let you switch back and forth between your iOS device and your Mac, so that if you have Word installed on both machines you can start a project on one and finish on the other. I have a Mac, but haven't used this utility because I like working on my iPad the best.

Both Word and Pages work beautifully on it, you can export in both Word and PDF from either app, and Pages takes dictation beautifully. VoiceOver works beautifully for legal research, and lets me read 1000+-page files comfortably. And, as a bonus, you don't have to keep memorizing new key combination commands. And you're not chained to a desk.

I recommend storing documents to be accessed for reading on ICloud since they can be accessed with little effort from within Voice dream. I put my Word documents in One Drive, which makes Word the default app for opening them. I store very large project files on Dropbox.

In the end I reverted to a Windows laptop for some aspects of my work. I also discovered to my delight that Dragon Professional 15 works very well with a braille display using either JAWS 17 or NV Access.

However, a wireless keyboard or a Bluetooth Braille display with a Braille keyboard could make it work. Nevertheless, I don't intend to give up on Windows or my desktop computer anytime soon. Although I do also have a laptop, I use my desktop whenever I can because it is more powerful.
