[blindLaw] Braille

Has anyone had experience with a visually impaired high schooler studying Braille as an independent study course (rather than Spanish etc)?
I wanted to run it by my child’s HS administration but I don’t think they will go for it -and I am not sure what resources are available to learn braille independently.
