Thank You, thank you.
I will have the student work through his problem again, making sure that all
fields are cleared before entering User Defined points. Will let you know
how it works.
Thanks Again,
Sharon

Subject: Re: [Blindmath] Question Concerning the Audio Graphing Calculator
Hi Sharon,
I am just now reading my email. I hope that I am not too late. I'm sure your
student needs this for homework tonight!! The only thing you may have missed
was pressing enter after you typed points=3. That opens the data table with
two columns (for x and y) with three slots for points. I am used to hitting
enter after I insert the y value for the last point, but I just tried
hitting F4, and that worked as well. I've listed my steps for entering data
for a linear function. I've also emphasized deleting and clearing out the
data expression boxes because this created havoc when I tried doing several
in a row recently. Again, if you have another favorite way of
clearing/deleting old data that works for you, use it instead of my method.
My example is not yours. It is one with four points, but it's the same steps
otherwise.
Hope this works for you and your student!
Susan
Entering Data
. To plot individual points, go to Data Set 1 Expression Box (not
available in Data Set 2).
. Press the DELETE key and then press ENTER. This will clear the data
table. Then type POINTS=N (where N equals the number of points you wish to
enter), and press ENTER. The word USER displays in the expression box.
. Tab and select rectangle or polar coordinates.
. Tab to enter the table.
. Type first x value in the x column, press TAB.
. Type first y value in the y column, press TAB.
. Continue entering all of your data points. When you have entered
the last data point, press ENTER and your database is set. You will not hear
a short tone since you created the data table yourself.
Plotting a Linear Function
. Enter the following data table as outlined above. If you can't read
my data table, the points are (1, 3), (2,5), (3,7), and (4,9).
x
y
1
3
2
5
3
7
4
9
. Display the graph using F3.
. Tab to reach the Statistical Description of Data Set button. Then
press ENTER.
. Tab to the "Mode" box. Select Basic Statistical Information using
the arrow keys, if it is not already displayed.
. Tab to Evaluate Statistics button. Press ENTER.
. You are now in the textbox. By using the UP and DOWN ARROW keys in
this window, you can scroll through the listed statistical information. This
statistical listing includes the number of data points, sum, mean, and
standard deviations for both the X and Y data values.
. Tab until you return to the "Mode" box. Arrow up or down to find
Linear: y = ax+b
. Tab to Evaluate Statistics button. Press ENTER.
. Tab once again, and you are back in the textbox. By using the UP
and DOWN ARROW keys in this window, you can immediately find the equation
fitting our data points: y = 2x+1, where a is your slope and b is your
y-intercept.
. Tab until you reach the Plot Data Set 2 button and press ENTER. You
have just placed the regression equation into the Data Set 2 expression box
and filled in the data table.
. Clear the Data Set 2 expression box and data table before moving
onto the next problem.
. When you return to Data Set 1, if you are not on the Data Table
Screen, you will need to tab until you reach the Return to Data Table
button. Then press ENTER.

Hello Everyone:
I have a student using the Audio Graphing Calculator 3.0 from View Plus. I
instructed the student in how to plot user defined points using the tutorial
provided; however, when the student gave their coordinates for a problem in
the textbook, the AGC would not evaluate nor show the graph. Would someone
be able to assist me with this situation?
When plotting the user defined points, he put in:
Points = 3 and the following coordinate (2, 4), (3, 6), and (4, 8).
Thank You,
Sharon
