I think  your  AT specialist is mistaken.
In your WORD document input your math as needed.
Save your entire Word document as a word file.
GO to DBT WIN 11.1 sr4
OPEN the word file in DBT WIN
CONTROL+T to translate to braille.

 I do have Math Type installed, but my AT specialist said I had to save it as a .tex or Latex and when I went to save the word doc those were not options for the file extention.
