[Blindmath] Math type question

Hi Bente,

As has been confirmed, Word files containing MathType equations can be
imported into Duxbury and translated into braille.

Having spent the last 2 years or so here in the UK, working with
Design Science and Duxbury, perhaps I can add a few items from our
experiences.

First, it is best if you can use the latest MathType 6.7a with Duxbury
11.1 (SR3) as there have been many improvements over older versions.

Second, it is vital that equations are entered accurately. Perhaps an
obvious statement, but transcribers who are not fully math aware, can
be caught out with things like Greek letters which look identical to
Latin letters.

Third, it is possible to create a Large Print version of the same
file you would use for braille. This simply involves applying a Large
Print Template to the Word document, and using a feature in MathType
which enables all equations to be enlarged. This only takes a minute
or two.

In an ideal world, it's best if the mathematics department can prepare
the material for you, for obvious reasons.

Hi everyone,

Let me preface this by saying this may have already been discussed
but I can't remember. Can math type be converted to braille or does
it have to be converted to LaTex and edited to go into Duxbury?
