Hi,
My name is Ed Summers. I am a blind software engineer and an accessibility specialist. I lead the accessibility team at SAS Institute.
SAS is developing charts, graphs, maps, and other data visualizations that are optimized for blind users of iOS touchscreen devices. We will present two papers and run a usability study at the CSUN conference in San Diego next week.
The first presentation will demonstrate scatter plots, bar charts, line charts, and other data visualizations on an iPad using Voiceover:

The second presentation will demonstrate digital maps of the Manchester Grand Hyatt and surrounding area that are optimized for blind iPhone users:

We are seeking blind students and professionals that are proficient with Voiceover on iOS to evaluate these initial designs and provide feedback. The usability study will be conducted on Friday, March 2 at the CSUN conference. We would greatly appreciate your input. Please contact me off list before February 28 to register for the study.
Thanks,
Ed
