Sorry, folks need more input form Joseph. If you want, Joseph, you can contact me with my email, below.

So it sounds to me you are not using an embossed copy of the book? Would love to have input about the ins and outs of how this works for you. Also, by the way, do you like to use the apex for math assignments? My student is only middle school so at the moment uses the apex for most of the homework, and is learning computer braille symbols so that the print reads the same as the nemith does for her. A bit of a challenge, but the student is up to it.

Hi,
Images are, as far as I heard, are just graphics. The problems I've seen are on some math books (not others) and DAISY versions of the book have them (if any problems are there). And yes, I use an Apex (I use mine for literary braille books, not math books, for which I use FSReader or similar DAISY reader).
Cheers,
Joseph

Ah, this is a big help, Joseph, thanks. So how do the images translate? Do the problems appear as nemith? Do you use an apex, or embossed copy? Please elaborate on "some do have problems."
What percentage would you say is there, and what do you do about the ones that are not there? This is for a middle schooler.
Thanks

Hi,
I usually don't read math books from Bookshare in braille format
- I tend to use DAISY version of the book (with images) because some do have math problems.
Cheers,
Joseph

Does anyone use Bookshare to download math books? I have downloaded math books from Bookshare, but they are translated into literay braille, hence. The math problems themselves are often not even in the document! Literary does not have the math symbols!

If I use this textbook with a student, I think I will have to go through, and enter the problems in one at a time, and the graphics, in the geometry and charts reading units will also be involved.

The book is available in Braille already, but is exorbitant

Is there a better way?

Oops! Forgot to mention that Scientific Notebook works with Duxbury. You do the work and set up the document in Scientific Notebook and then open it in Duxbury to tranlate it into Braille.

Is there a software that can easily scan and translate mathematics into Nemeth? Like print to Duxbury in one key stroke without having to recheck and adjust symbols. I could swear I read somewhere that someone was developing a software that would make math translation easier with less errors.
I would appreciate any and all information.
 Thank you.
