[Blindmath] MATLAB Accessibility

Hello everyone,
I'm glad to hear more on this topic. It is useful information for me. Especially hearing about the limitations of MatLab in statistical analysis. I was curious about this, as I learned SPSS when I took statistics and have since used R and a little bit of Octave. I have heard MatLab placed in the same category as Mathematica but not as a statistics solution before so this makes sense.
I would like to add one more project to the discussion. iPython has recently become one of my favorite tools. It is a customized Python interpreter that allows you to create notebooks of mathematical expressions and supports different types of plotting and visualization. I like it because it allows you to use Python and Bash commands interactively in the same shell. (So it plays nice with R)
If you haven't used it before, check it out! It is really powerful.

Subject: Re: [Blindmath] MATLAB Accessibility
Hi John: Hi Justin:
That document is good. However, to change some settings according to that document, I needed some sighted help. Once that was done, the rest was quite accessible just like R. One could also try Octave, an Open Source alternative to Matlab. What I heard is that Octave lacks some advanced features present in Matlab. Otherwise, syntax and everything else is the same. In addition to that, we need not do anything special for Octave to be accessible.
Regards,
Ramana
