[Blindmath] shape shifting project

The video in the link below is not described.
I think a set of hundreds of small motors can take information from a scanner or digital data and reproduce the shape of an object.

It seems that it would be a fast way to produce a tactile graph or 3D presentation of an image. I am not sure of the detail in the reproduced object.  Perhaps a sighted list member can help with some descriptions.
