[Blindmath] ASCIIMathML versus MathML

Hi José Enrique,

If you compare the simple rules for ASCIIMathML with the very complex and
detailed rules for MathML it is obvious that ASCIIMathML can only represent
a subset of MathML (or LaTeX). That is, of course, exactly why it is so
easy to use.

The goal of DAISY and EPUB 3 (the latest version of EPUB) is to be able to
produce print math as well as equivalent accessible documents such as
braille math and audio math from same electronic source file. This is why
DAISY and EPUB 3 requires the math to be expressed as MathML.

I didn't mean to say that you couldn't convert ASCIIMathML to braille math.
But it was never intended to be a general solution for the goal of using a
single electronic math source to produce documents in different formats. The
MathML in DAISY 3 Structure Guidelines have a number of illustrative
examples.
