Nirmal,

CAR uses SAPI 5 voices in Windows. You can install other SAPI 5 voices and use them with CAR. If there are no other voices to select from in the voices combo box, you probably don't have any other SAPI 5 voices installed.

If you install other SAPI 5 voices, then they should appear in the combo box.

You can also look in your control panel under speech and see what voice changes can be made but I am guessing that you will need to install more voices.

Companies like Acapela, AT&T, and Nuance all make SAPI 5 voices. I agree that anything is better than Microsoft Anna.

For members of the list who may not know about CAR, it is a self-voiced document reading application that uses some JavaScript and Python to render math from word documents as XHTML + MathML.

It supports Microsoft equation editor conversion as well as MathType object rendering.

At my suggestion, CAR also includes HTML export so the math can be saved for use with other tools.

For more information you can visit the CAR website:

All the best,

Jon

Subject: [Blindmath] cinfiguring CAR Reader for other TTS than Anna

Hello Friends

I tried the CAR reader from Central Washington University but when I try to
