Hi. I have a Braille Sense and I took a few semesters of basic algebra and college algebra. Here's my experience with college math and my braille sense.
First off, I didn't have a lot of written assignments like we used too back when I was in school.
My professor used a web site from Pearson Technologies called my mathlab . com
He would assign exercises from the book and you would go on to mymathlab and do your homework. It has some very good accessible points but it was not 100 percent. The best thing, in my opinion, I was actually able to get my book in.brf files. It was great because like my sighted classmates I could work out problems directly in the book. I could then save a "worked out" chapter versus the original text.
I have never printed out an assignment from my Braille Sense directly. Mostly because the technology is a little antiquated. I.E. you cannot print wirelessly. But I really didn't have to hand anything in except quizzes. So I would usually take my written assignment off of the braille sense, on to the computer, and look it over in a word doc. Correcting mistakes if I saw any. A bit long of a process but it worked.
If I was going to be in more advanced math classes I would probably learn the LATex code but I just wanted to get these classes over with and get out!
The braille sense has a nice scientific calculator that can store results for you and do some pretty advanced stuff.
You can also paste results in to your current working file.
I have found a few shortcuts and work-arounds for a few other things but I won't list all of them here.
Good luck!
bb
