[BlindMath] Other Accessible Calculator Question

Ok first just because that says that for sighted test takers does not mean a
blind student can not use something like a TI-30XS which is multi line.
There are forms you can fill out to accommodate a student for their
disability. I have even heard of a blind kid being able to use the Orion
TI-84 on a test that said no graphing no multi line. He was able to use it
because he filled out the form and there were no other reasonable
accommodations. IN that case the person giving the test made sure to clear
the memory and watch that he only used the functions allowed. This makes it
more difficult for the test giver but that is OK.

Now with that in mind if they are trying to require a one line scientific
calculator there are still Orion TI-36 one line talking calculators in the
world. Are you talking to a TVI or your state Ex Officio Trustee. They
would be able to walk you through getting accommodations including allowing
other calculators on the state test if needed. See the page below and
search for your state and Ex Officio Trustees contact information.

The 4 calculators that I posted in my first message (listed again below) are
the calculators I have been told are acceptable for our state geometry exam.

> Texas Instruments TI-30Xa
> Casio fx-260 solar

> Casio fx-82 solar

> Sharp EL-510R

> Sharp EL-510RN

The Calculator being used may not be a graphing calculator and may not
display data on more than one line.

It seems to me that if the state of Florida is going to have these
requirements, the state should be required to provide an acceptable talking
calculator for the blind students. Somehow I find myself here searching so
my student will be in compliance.
