[BlindMath] Requesting calculator accommodations

Janet,

You don't mention if your school is public or private - I would guess
private because public schools have Assistant Principals that are tasked
with getting testing done for all students. Your tvi or your student can
talk to the AP and they can fill out the test accommodation request. It
must be in their IEP also or the state will not approve in most states. The
AP in charge of testing in high school would meet with my son and they would
fill it for my son actually introduced herself to me his junior year
because she wanted to meet his parents - she had been requesting test
accommodations for him so long!

If you are home schooling or private school, go to your Department of
Education state website and search for testing accommodations. Or google
your state DOE testing accommodations. It should pull up a document with
instructions on how to request test accommodations and the directions to ask
for test accommodations should be there. I have an Orion 36 if you want it
but I personally would try to get the Accessible 30SX approved. The Orion
36 used different keystrokes than the rest of the class and is harder for
the student. If you want it though, email me at marywoodyard at comcast.net
and I will ship it to you free matter for the blind. When my son was in
middle school the accessible 30SX was not out yet. I wish it had been!!!!

MAry

In general, you can do a Reply to All and the original address will appear
in the "TO" or "CC" fields. Then you can delete the other addresses and
isolate the original address.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

I tried getting your email off the list but I think the list protects it.
Just drop me a line at kperry at aph.org
