It runs fine with Windows screen readers in both of the environments mentioned – no special configuration required.

I appreciate that there are UNIX/Linux environments under Windows; However, Emacs typically is GUI, not text based.
What accessibility bridge are you using to bridge to the screen reader?

Are you running native/standard Emacs, or EmacsSpeak?

What is the relevancy of comparing text based terminal environments such as Mac OS Terminal, or a Windows Linux/UNIX text terminal environment in relation to Emacs?

And under the Windows Subsystem for Linux, as well as on real Linux systems.

The Mac OS terminal I have tried but would not recommend for accessibility reasons, although it does seem to have improved slightly in recent releases - but not enough to run Emacs comfortably in my opinion.

Just to clarify, if you're running Linux or Windows and using Emacs, the major advantage for editing LaTeX is that AUCTeX Mode provides a fairly comprehensive set of keyboard shortcuts for entering common LaTeX commands and environments. You don't have to type them yourself in these cases. Even if you do need to type them, the editor can automatically complete the names in many instances.

You can also expand/collapse parts of the document, or hide the LaTeX commands, move directly to lines containing syntax errors, and so forth.

This is the software environment in which I wrote my Ph.D., which did not involve mathematics (though there was occasional use of formal logic symbols in a few places). I am yet to find anything better.

Thanks, Kevin -  this has prompted me to update my MacTeX installation so I can try TeXShop with VoiceOver.

What are others using under Microsoft Windows to edit LaTeX documents? I generally prefer Emacs with AucTeX mode, but I’m always interested in exploring what is available. Under Linux, the best choices are definitely Emacs (my preference) or Vim.

includes  a tool that is   called TexShop. TexShop is fully VoiceOver accessible.
When one runs the installer package that may be downloaded from the above listed location, the entire Latex environment is installed and ready to go.

I am not sure about how to typeset latex on mac, but you can probably use bibtex or myktex.

Hi all!
I’m getting ready to go into a climatology degree. As part of that, I have to take some math courses and learn Latex which as far as I know, isn’t tought in computer programing classes at college. Since I no nothing about computer science and have been out of the math loop for a while, what are the best math programs for a Mack computer? Where is the best place to get my hands on the most accessable tutorial for learning Latex? I have already talked to the computer science list and they recamended that I also ask you guys because even though Latex is tech but I also heard that it involves math.
