It should also be possible to use a screen reader that supports MathML to proofread documents written in LaTeX by first using LaTeXML or TeX4HT to convert them to HTML with MathML.
Of the two conversion tools, LaTeXML seems to be more actively developed at the moment.

LaTeX is not the only way for a blind person to write mathematics. The LEAN editor written by John Gardner is an option worth investigating for anyone who is unlikely to move out of a MS Word workflow.
I think we also need to be careful what using LaTeX means. There are a few ways to use LaTeX style equations without preparing an entire document in LaTeX. BKB and I have mentioned two on the list today.

LaTeX saves hours when formatting references for research papers.
You can use LaTeX with Markdown and it is more readable.
It is the only way for blind people to write math on the computer.
