[BlindMath] [Blind Math] Coding Group and Coding tutor for Vision Impaired High School Student

Thanks for great suggestions. I also received few private replies as well. All the suggestions are really good and welcoming.

I guess, I understand now that Python is not inaccessible and it's rather better if one need to find the nesting levels. So, instead of suggesting to go for JAVA, I'll let her chose and if she goes with Python then that's good as well.

She uses JAWS as screen reader and is doing well in utilizing the features. I hope, one day, she'll become good in NVDA which seems to be a popular choice between users working on Math or Coding (and probably, other STEM subjects).

Thanks
Shail

If your daughter knows a bit of python, why not keep on developing python at least to a stage where she can comfortablily write some scripts to perform some basic tasks.

As she has basic knowledge on python, I do not think it is a good idea to suddenly change to learn a new language unless she really wants to do so.

Also, if she can master screen reader very well, indentation is not a problem at all.

(that’s my personal opinion though 😊). Moreover, I believe, JAVA is the preferred languages for Comp Science students in Universities so that's another reason for the bias.

Most of the time all it takes is help getting started. Of course the problem is not always learning coding but I have found in the two students I have had and the many I have worked with over the years screen reader skills have been more problems than learning coding. If you can't dig through the web pages of information you can't
