There is a learning curve for any accessible calculator.

It is a great calculator, but there is a learning curve. The student would
have to learn to use it weeks before taking an exam!

I don't know what would be considered affordable but the best on the market
is the Orion TI-84 and it can be purchased direct from Orbit or from LS&S
and I think there are other places. In fact here is an Independent living
aids page for it:

I have a contact who is looking for an affordable and accessible calculator
for a Computer Science undergraduate student. The device must be standalone
because the school does not allow use of a phone or computer during exams.
I am happy to get suggestions for such devices, and where they could be
purchased.
Best,
DON WINIECKI
